Ferozepur, November 2, 2024: \u00a0Stubble Burning is a Statewide issue at present, which further leads to various problems. To curb Stubble Burning, Ferozepur Police is strictly acting as per law in the light of directions of the Supreme Court of India and is abiding by the instructions of CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management), PPCB (Punjab Pollution Control Board) in active coordination with Civil Administration.<\/p>\n

In all, 67 special teams deputed under the supervision of GOs and\u00a0SHOs\u00a0concerned besides 11 Joint patrolling teams and around 296 cases have been registered. There had been a reduction in fire farm incidents as compared to previous years.\u00a0 There were 1658 incidents in 2022, 1186 in 2023 and only 471 in 2024, which comes to fall by 60% in 2024.\u00a0 Even today only 50 incidents were reported.<\/p>\n

In a concerted effort to combat the pressing issue of stubble burning,\u00a0Ferozepur\u00a0Police is actively collaborating with the Civil Administration and relevant authorities. The district administration is implementing a multi-pronged strategy to reduce farm fires and safeguard the environment.<\/p>\n

Ferozepur\u00a0Police has taken a multi-pronged approach to tackle stubble burning. They are taking strict enforcement actions against violators, while also working to educate farmers about the harmful effects of burning and promote sustainable practices. Their efforts seem to be paying off, as the number of fire incidents has significantly reduced compared to previous years.<\/p>\n

The key initiatives taken are – Strict Enforcement: Police have registered 296 cases against individuals involved in stubble burning, demonstrating zero tolerance for violations. Community Engagement: Regular meetings are being conducted with farmers’ unions and village\u00a0defence\u00a0committees to raise awareness about the harmful effects of stubble burning on health, soil, and the environment. Targeted Approach: Hot-spot villages identified as major contributors to farm fires are being closely monitored through increased patrolling and awareness campaigns. Technological Solutions: Farmers are being encouraged to adopt modern agricultural practices, including the use of straw management techniques and balers. Public Awareness: Extensive awareness campaigns are being conducted through various channels, including public address systems, social media, and media outlets. Joint Efforts: Collaborative efforts with the Civil Administration, Fire Department, and\u00a0NGOs\u00a0are being undertaken to coordinate efforts and ensure effective implementation of measures.<\/p>\n

SSP Soumya Mishra said that as compared\u00a0to previous years, there has been a significant reduction in the number of farm fires in the\u00a0Ferozepur\u00a0district. This positive trend is attributed to the combined efforts of the police, administration, and the community.\u00a0 By taking proactive measures and fostering cooperation among various stakeholders,\u00a0Ferozepur\u00a0district is striving to create a sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural landscape.<\/p>\n
