Now, farmers\u2019 leader Rakesh Tikait comes forward in favour of Kulwinder Kaur<\/p>\n
Ferozepur, June 11, 2024:\u00a0 Now the farmers\u2019 leader Rakesh Tikait through his video on X has come forward to support Kulwinder Kaur constable of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and her family who made headlines for allegedly slapping Bollywood actress-Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh Airport on Friday.<\/p>\n
The issue has surfaced at the global level and subsequent comments by Kangana on extremism in Punjab. Punjab from all sections has come out to support Kulwinder irrespective of whether people are Sikhs or non-Sikhs.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the whole incident, Rakesh Tikait said, \u201cYou need to investigate why such a thing is happening. Aren\u2019t those who are in the forces not suffering? You have a slogan of \u2018Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan\u2019. The children in the forces are also from our families. Were they (the families) not called terrorists for one year? \u201cWere they not insulted for 13 months? Every Jawan of the forces is harbouring this pain. There is no need to tamper much\u201d. Adding he said the politicians too should stop giving statements, he has been at the forefront of the farmers\u2019 movement and can well understand their problems, demands and sentiments.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) while announcing support for Kulwinder organised an ‘Insaaf March\u2019 in Mohali on Sunday in which farmers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan participated in large numbers. These are groups that continue to camp at the borders of Punjab and Haryana after their \u2018Delhi Chalo\u2019 push was halted by the authorities in the BJP-ruled Haryana by use of force.\u00a0 However, a month-long camping at the Shambhu border for the rail rook campaign was also launched but even after forming\u00a0the new government, there is no word from the Modi-led government over farmers’ demands.<\/p>\n
Even the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has also responded to the developments in the matter saying that the slap on Kangana represents the simmering anger due to her venomous statement issued in the past\u201d. It was an unfortunate incident but Ranaut should also have exercised restraint. Before labelling all Punjabis as terrorists she should have remembered the significant contribution of Punjabis in making the country self-reliant in food production, freedom struggle and defence of the country.
