Ferozepur, May 7, 2024:\u00a0 The farmers\u2019 Rail-Roko protest at Shambu station \u2013 Ambala Cantt Junction \u2013 Sahnewal Section of Ambala Division,\u00a0 the route near the Punjab Haryana border continued for the release of three farmers, arrested during the demonstration, which entered 21st day today while the Kisan Andolan-2 has completed 84 days.\u00a0 In all 199 trains were disrupted \u2013 60 cancelled, 115 diverted and 15 trains short-originated or terminated.\u00a0\u00a0The farmers are sitting at Shambu-Khanori borders under the Rail Roko programme under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM).<\/p>\n

Protest by the farmers is also to seek the execution of a legal guarantee for a\u00a0minimum support price\u00a0(MSP) for their agricultural produce; justice for Shubhkaran Singh, a young farmer from Bathinda, who died on February 21 in clashes between the farmers and police near the Khanauri border separating Punjab and Haryana during the \u2018Dilli Chalo\u2019 protest.<\/p>\n

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said the protest will continue until the three farmers are released. We have decided to sit on dharna in front of the new Moti Bagh Mahal, home of BJP candidate Praneet Kaur on May 8.<\/p>\n

Farmer leaders said that 20 farmers have been martyred so far in Kisan Andolan 2. Recently, Jaswant Singh son of Gurdeep Singh aged 70 years village Shabashpur, tehsil and district Tarantaran died of a heart attack. His mortal remains were sent from Shambhu to his native village Shabashpur district Tarn Taran with full respect and rites. On this occasion, farmer leaders Surjit Singh Ji Phool, Dilbag Singh Harigarh, Malkeet Singh, Harpreet Singh and others paid homage to the martyr and prayed for the peace of his soul.<\/p>\n

\n

Farmer leaders have warned political party leaders that the conflict will intensify in the coming days, and the parties should not resort to the police to strengthen democracy and answer farmers’ questions democratically. Rather, they should answer the questions from the farmers instead of ignoring them in the villages.<\/p>\n
