33 trains cancelled<\/span> as farmers block railway tracks near Punjab’s Shambhu border<\/p>\n

Ferozepur<\/span>, April 20, 2024:\u00a0 The farmers continued their protest near Punjab\u2019s Shambu border demanding the release of three activists who were arrested during the ongoing protest and have refused to vacate the railway track till they are released.\u00a0 As a result, the railway has to cancel 33 trains, short-terminate 4 trains, short-originate 3 trains, and divert 56 trains.<\/p>\n

In all, 96 trains were affected, causing a lot of inconvenience to the passengers, who had planned their journeys, for some personal, social and official tours.<\/p>\n

Farmers have been protesting at the Shambhu<\/span> and Khanauri<\/span> borders, since February 13 under the banner of the KMM and the SKM (non-political).\u00a0They have been demanding a law to fix a minimum support price (MSP) for their crops and concessions, including the waiving of farm loans.<\/p>\n
