5 mobiles seized from\u00a0Ferozepur<\/span>\u00a0Jail, 516 total recovered\u00a0during 2023<\/p>\n

Ferozepur<\/span>, December 31, 2023:\u00a0 On the last day of the year, 5 mobiles were seized from inside the jail, making a total recovery of mobiles to 516 during 2023 besides various other banned items.<\/p>\n

During the two search operations, two mobiles were recovered from under-trial prisoner\u00a0Luvpreet<\/span>\u00a0Singh alias Lovely, already lodged in the jail and another 3 mobiles were recovered lying unclaimed in the jail premises.\u00a0 A case under the Prisons Act has been registered against the prisoner and unknown persons.<\/p>\n

The reaching of mobiles and other banned items inside the jail, despite three layers, continued to be a mystery and the lack of security arrangements or the connivance of the officials cannot be ruled out.\u00a0 However, after the entry of banned items, the staff had been quite vigilant in the seizure of the same but in the meantime, its usage for illegal purposes has also been exposed with the making of around 43K calls from three mobiles from inside the jail.<\/p>\n

The purpose of keeping criminals behind\u00a0bars and away from the outer world, as punishment, is lost with the regular recovery of mobiles.\u00a0 After registration of the case, investigation in such recovery cases is also difficult as taking the prisoner for inquiry out of the jail is not free from security, especially when sufficient staff is not available to guard them.\u00a0 Thus, the matter ends with the registration of cases in such recoveries.\u00a0 More strict measures need to be initiated, to stop this hazard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
