Ferozepur, October 1, 2023:\u00a0 In a bid to help visually impaired students, during the visit of two students \u2013 Anureet and Pankita \u2013 of Class Plus One and Plus Two, of DCMI, volunteered to help the visually-impaired inmates at Home for the Blind, as a reader and writer before and after the exams. \u00a0These volunteers will act as scribes and tutors for numerous visually impaired students to assist them in their assignments for the annual exams and to work as writers. \u00a0Not only do these students want to help the visually-challenged students, but also give an opportunity for people to turn Good Samaritans.<\/p>\n

It is pertinent to mention that Home for the Blind in Ferozepur was established in 1954 by Dr. Sadhu Chand Vinayak and presently 35 inmates are enjoying the free lodging and boarding.\u00a0 Out of this, 30 inmates are school and college going, improving their qualification as Plus Two and BA first, second and final year and post-graduation.<\/p>\n

During interaction with the blind, as it was their first visit to the institution, they were feeling surprised to see the blind people walking around in the campus feeling like a common man having no regrets with life and nature as well. They were more surprised when they saw the blind man for the first time reciting verses of the Bhagavad Gita from a book in Braille.<\/p>\n

Anureet and Pankita said, on meeting these visually challenged persons, living a normal life, has completely changed our mind and our inner conscience has compelled us to do something for this community.\u00a0 In the coming time, we plan to set up a voice bank with records of lessons that visually challenged students can listen to and learn.<\/p>\n

The first task at hand was setting up a voice bank with recordings of lessons that visually challenged students can listen to and lea<\/p>\n

Before departing, the students had tea with them and presented \u2018salted namkeen\u2019 packets to the visually impaired inmates.<\/p>\n
