\nHeavy flood water pummels Ferozepur border villages, 4 more NDRF teams arrive in Ferozepur, rescue operations intensified
\nFerozepur, August 20, 2023: With continued downstream of water from Harike Head works 2,10,250 cusec with pond level 687.50 ft and 2,50,640 cusec with pond level 647 ft from Hussainiwala Headworks today morning, around 50 villages are still under the influence of flood water, four more teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have reached the flood affected border villages and the rescue operations have been intensified the relief and rescue operations and to ensure the well-being of those affected.
\nThe border residents who are victims of frequent flooding of border villages, have recalled the terrors of 1988 floods when the entire district had got submerged with a word to learn a lesson while making future plans. The flood situation in border villages also give an opportunity to the across the border smugglers who often take advantage of such situations but the BSF jawans are keeping a cat eye, with the help of motor boats on movement despite odd circumstances.
\nThe effect of water is so that the Punjab Mata Samadhi, international border fencing at zero line and around 41 schools have been closed.

\nThe district administration has set up the relief camps with adequate arrangements for relief material for the convenience of flood victims.
\nAs per the information, several villages in Pakistan have also reported to be affected with flood water released, which has a zig-zag flow in the border area as it crosses over to Pakistan from Hussainiwala and comes back into India near Sulemanki in Fazilka district.
