\nProtest against Manipur incident in Ferozepur <\/p>\n
Ferozepur, August 6, 2023: Scores of activists and common citizens took part in a protest in Ferozepur today,\u00a0 condemning the horrific incident in Manipur, in which\u00a0two women were paraded naked and molested. <\/p>\n
Though the incident took place on May 4, the\u00a0video surfaced and went viral, sending shockwaves across the country. <\/p>\n
India is a democratic country but there should be no politics in the name of religion and one should not be compelled to adopt the particular sect.\u00a0 Women should be given due respect by the society, said woman activist, Inderjit Kaur. <\/p>\n
In Ferozepur, Rinku Grover, President Municipal Council and local citizens staged a demonstration outside Town Hall Park and were joined by members of the civil society. <\/p>\n
He said, the Manipur incident is deeply shocking and the despicable act is highly condemnable. The gangrape of the victim and the murder of her brother who tried to save her modesty, has left the society numb and though it took place on May 4. <\/p>\n
It said the outrageous incident has not only hurt women but has shocked and humiliated the entire country. <\/p>\n
The Centre and the State government of Manipur, both led by the BJP, should take responsibility for the dark and sordid incident and are directly responsible for the present situation in Manipur, they said adding it’s a consipracy to remain silent over the Manipur incident and delaying the action against the culprits. <\/p>\n
