Ferozepur, June 6, 2023:<\/strong> On Tuesday, Chief Commissioner, Income Tax\u00a0Amritsar Zone, Jahanzeb Akhtar,\u00a0 visited Ferozepur, to have interaction with local Income Tax Bar Association members.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Jahanzeb Akhtar said, “Many people are submitting false claims in TDS by filling income tax returns -ITRs, against which Income Tax Department is taking action, as many cases have come to the fore. Income Tax Department is keeping a close watch on these persons and appropriate action under the law will be taken\u201d.<\/p>\n

On asking about the getting the TDS related false refunds scam in some other accounts managed by some private person engaged by certain government departments, she said,\u00a0we are working on this issue on voluntarily compliances. As the trust is the foundation of voluntarily compliance, we are trying to revive the confidence lost, like the recent one, between the income tax department and tax payer.\u00a0 It would have been better; if the tax payer had worked on truthfulness and honesty and did not commit fraud, make false claims and stayed on the path of truth.<\/p>\n

She said, \u201cSince the filing of ITRs for the current year has started, my appeal to the tax payers is to file the returns for their claims, with honesty, correctness and within the provisions of rules and give up false based claims, scam, frauds, bogus claims as the material gains and winning is no so longer.\u00a0 Now the recovery process has started and such cases have also cropped somewhere also and FIRs have been lodged. It is the practice which is not isolated honesty and dishonesty. \u00a0The consequences are based on the path we chose. So, it is better to stay with Satyamev Jayate\u201c.<\/p>\n

If nothing is going too much wrong, it means, everything is going right. Majority of the tax payers are good and we respect them. We have the capacity to catch the wrong ones.\u00a0 However, the trust based relationship campaign is going on with the tax payers, she said.<\/p>\n
