Known as the Father of the Library Movement in India,\u00a0Panicker\u00a0passed away on 19 June 1995 after\u00a0revolutionizing\u00a0the practice of reading in the country. Born on 1 March 1909,\u00a0Panicker\u00a0contributed to the literacy movement in Kerala, which then became India&#8217;s first totally literate state in 1991<\/p>\n<p>A detailed discussion was held on\u00a0the importance of the reading books and the teachers were also apprised about the various activities to be\u00a0organized\u00a0in educational institutions during the month-long campaign dedicated to boosting reading among the youth.<\/p>\n<p>Moderating the discussion, District Mentor English\u00a0Gurwinder\u00a0Singh informed about Reading Month to be\u00a0organized\u00a0under the\u00a0aegis\u00a0of PN Foundation. Under this campaign, all the schools, colleges, and libraries will be\u00a0organizing\u00a0various activities in full zeal from June 19 to July 18, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>DEO\u00a0Chamkaur\u00a0Singh instructed the participants about the need to boost the habit of reading books. The dwindling interest in reading among the modern youth is a major cause of concern and to rekindle reading as a hobby, language teachers have a big role to play, asserted the DEO.<\/p>\n<p>District Language Officer\u00a0Jagdeep\u00a0Singh shared some valuable tips to promote the hobby of reading books.
