43 inmates of Arya<\/span> Anathalya<\/span> sent back to native places as per Court orders<\/p>\n

Ferozepur<\/span>, June 17, 2022: On Thursday, 43 inmates of Arya<\/span> Anathalya<\/span> were repatriated under the supervision of district administration and the Child Welfare Department,\u00a0 to their native places as per the orders of the Punjab and Haryana<\/span> High Court.<\/p>\n

Arya<\/span> Anathala<\/span> (AA) in Ferozepur<\/span> was built in 1857 by Swami Dayanand<\/span> Saraswati<\/span> to provide shelter to orphaned children. Since many years, the children from Jharkhand<\/span>, Ranchi and Khunti<\/span> were staying in AA and after passing out 10th 12th, go back to their home town and equal number used to come back.\u00a0 However, the locals orphans were not given preference.<\/p>\n

Today, the AA complex wore a deserted look as most of the inmates who belonged to Jharkhand<\/span> were sent to their home state.\u00a0 The court had earlier ordered that the inmates who did not belong to the state be sent back to their native places within a year.<\/p>\n

As per sources, the inmates had applied for registration under the Juveline<\/span> Justice Act and later on, it came to fore that most the inmates were not orphans and belonged to the other states. The registration was denied by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of the orplhange<\/span> as per Section 95-1 of JJ Act.\u00a0 The management of AA had filed a case in the High Court but the court instructed on July 4, 2019 to shift the names to their native places by Mach 3, 2020.<\/p>\n

During last year, 49 inmates were sent to Jharkhand<\/span> but the rest of 96 in total were still residing here and not sent despite the expiry of the stipulated time.<\/p>\n

The inmates were sent through a train with security of 11 policemen and an employee of Child Security Unit with arrangements of food on the way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
