Ferozepur<\/span>, May 23, 2022:\u00a0 During the two different search operations carried out, mobiles were seized from two terrorist and gangster jail inmates.<\/p>\n While around 175 mobiles have been recovered during the current year in\u00a0Ferozepur<\/span>\u00a0jail, more than 300 mobiles were recovered during the last year.\u00a0 Whereas, 351 mobiles and 207 SM cards during a special drive launched to weed out corruption in jails and registered 87\u00a0FIRs<\/span>\u00a0against those involved in smuggling phones inside jails in the month of April this year.<\/p>\n In most jurisdictions,\u00a0prison\u00a0inmates\u00a0are forbidden from possessing\u00a0mobile phones\u00a0due to their ability to communicate with the outside world and other security issues. Mobile phones are one of the most\u00a0smuggled\u00a0items into prisons. They provide inmates the ability to make and receive unauthorized phone calls, send\u00a0email\u00a0and\u00a0text messages, use\u00a0social media, and follow news pertaining to their case, among other forbidden uses<\/p>\n In the meantime, the government is now looking at a target of making mobile-free jails in the state in the next six months as claimed by\u00a0Harjot<\/span>\u00a0Singh\u00a0Bains<\/span>, Jail Minister.\u00a0 He has also reiterated that no corruption will be tolerated and immediate action will be taken against any official facilitating mobiles to the inmates, he reiterated.<\/p>\n As per the information, during the search operation by\u00a0Sukhjinder<\/span>\u00a0Singh, Assistant Superintendent Jail, one mobile was recovered from terrorist inmate\u00a0Harcharan<\/span>\u00a0Singh of Delhi with SIM Card. When the recovered mobile was being handed over to warder\u00a0Shinder<\/span>\u00a0Singh, Assistant Superintendent\u00a0Jarnail<\/span>\u00a0Singh of Tarn\u00a0Taran<\/span>, the phone was snatched and broken and 4-5\u00a0minutes the<\/span>\u00a0entire body of the mobile was melted and\u00a0smoking<\/span>\u00a0started coming out of it.<\/p>\n In another search of block number 2,\u00a0chakki<\/span>\u00a0number 5, one mobile was recovered from gangster inmate Prince\u00a0with SIM<\/span>\u00a0Card.<\/p>\n A case under the Prisons Act has been registered at the city police station and further investigations are with\u00a0Varinder<\/span>\u00a0 Kumar, IO.<\/p>\n Added here, so far none of the cases has been solved for the recovery of mobiles because for investigation the warrants of the inmates are required to take him out of the jail, which is a risky proposition from the security point of view.<\/p>\n As usual, the matter ends with the registration of the case, as so far none of the cases has been solved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Mobile\u00a0phones seized from gangster and terrorist during checking of jail barracks Ferozepur, May 23, 2022:\u00a0 During the two different search operations carried out, mobiles were seized from two terrorist and gangster jail inmates.
