Ferozepur<\/span>, May 13, 2022: The teams of Excise and police in a joint operation, while continuing its drive against the bootlegging and smuggling of illicit liquor, excise and police teams of\u00a0Ferozepur<\/span>\u00a0on Friday, succeeded in seizing 44,000 liters of \u2018Lahan\u2019<\/span>\u00a0during search operation along the banks of river\u00a0Satluj<\/span>\u00a0from\u00a0Chakkar<\/span>\u00a0Wala<\/span>\u00a0Bera<\/span>, Babi Ke\u00a0Pattan<\/span>\u00a0village.<\/p>\n

Earlier, 60,000\u00a0ltrs<\/span>\u00a0lahan<\/span>\u00a0on March 29 from\u00a0Chakkar<\/span>\u00a0Wala<\/span>\u00a0Bera<\/span>\u00a0village and 64,000\u00a0ltrs<\/span>\u00a0on April 4 and 36,000\u00a0ltrs<\/span>\u00a0on May 5 from\u00a0Habib<\/span>\u00a0Ke and\u00a0Chakkar<\/span>\u00a0Wala<\/span>\u00a0Bera<\/span>, was also recovered.<\/p>\n

Added here that the people residing in the villages along the Sutlej River, have not been getting any lucrative employment offers and hence taking up illicit liquor trade to make both ends meet on account of easy availability of water.<\/p>\n

The raids were conducted under the supervision of AC(Excise), EO,\u00a0Ferozepur<\/span>\u00a0by Excise Inspectors\u00a0Inderpal<\/span>\u00a0Singh and\u00a0Prabhjot<\/span>\u00a0Singh.<\/p>\n

Divulging with details, the excise official said, 22 plastic tarpaulins, 3 silver utensils and equipment of working still, were also taken into possession being unclaimed.\u00a0 However, no arrest was made and \u00a0the recovered \u2018lahan\u2019<\/span>\u00a0was destroyed at drop spot to avoid its misuse.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
