Ferozepur<\/span>, May 5, 2022: Continuing its drive against the bootlegging and smuggling of illicit liquor, excise and police teams of\u00a0Ferozepur<\/span>\u00a0on Thursday, along with police, succeeded in seizing 36,000 liters of \u2018Lahan\u2019<\/span>\u00a0during search operation along the banks of river\u00a0Satluj<\/span>\u00a0from\u00a0Habib<\/span>\u00a0Ke\u00a0Pattan<\/span>\u00a0village.<\/p>\n

Earlier, 60,000\u00a0ltrs<\/span>\u00a0lahan<\/span>\u00a0on March 29 from\u00a0Chakkar<\/span>\u00a0Wala<\/span>\u00a0Bera<\/span>\u00a0village and 64,000\u00a0ltrs<\/span>\u00a0on April 4 from\u00a0Habib<\/span>\u00a0ke, was also recovered.<\/p>\n

In fact, the people residing in the villages along the Sutlej River, have not been getting any lucrative employment offers and hence taking up illicit liquor trade to make both ends meet on account of easy availability of water.<\/p>\n

The raids were conducted under the supervision of AC(Excise), EO,\u00a0Ferozepur<\/span>\u00a0by Excise Inspectors\u00a0Inderpal<\/span>\u00a0Singh and\u00a0Prabhjot<\/span>\u00a0Singh.<\/p>\n

Divulging with details, the excise official said, 18 plastic tarpaulins 5 iron drums and equipments of working still, were also taken into possession from unclaimed place.\u00a0 However, the recovered \u2018lahan\u2019<\/span>\u00a0was destroyed at drop spot to avoid its misuse.<\/p>\n

Police authorities have been informed to proceed further in this recovery and in the meantime, a case has been registered and further investigations are on, said excise official.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
