96,000 ltrs<\/span> \u2018Jahan’s<\/span> recovered from near Sutlej River<\/strong><\/p>\n Ferozepur<\/span>, August 11, 2021: In the excise raid conducted in the enclaves of Sutlej river in the surrounds of villages Ali, Habib<\/span> Ke, Nehanganwale<\/span> Chughe<\/span>, Chandiwala<\/span>, Raje<\/span> Ki Gatti<\/span> Chakar<\/span> Da Bedha<\/span> and near Puggar<\/span> Di Motor, under the supervision of EI Satinder<\/span> Malhi<\/span>, (EI Excise Circle Ferozepur<\/span> City) and recovered<\/span> 96,000 ltrs<\/span> \u2018lahan\u2019<\/span>.\u00a0 The same was destroyed on the spot being unclaimed.<\/strong><\/p>\n During the current financial year, so far 10,95,560 ltrs<\/span> \u2018lahan\u2019<\/span> \u2013 Kachhi<\/span> daru<\/span> – from April 21 onwards, 16,818 ltrs<\/span> illicit liquor, 25 working stills, 136 tarpaulins and 28 rubber rubes were taken into custody during the various raids.<\/p>\n However, 46 tarpaulins and 16 iron drums used for brewing the illicit liquor were taken into custody.\u00a0 No arrest could be made as they fled away from the scenes and police authorities have been informed for further action.<\/p>\n A close study reveals that the residents of the villages near Sutlej River don\u2019t have much agricultural land, as on the one side is the international border touching the Pakistan boundary and on the other side is the Sutlej River.\u00a0 They don\u2019t have many sources of income and have no choice except to do illicit liquor business as a source of income as the wine is costly and not affordable for the common man. When there is strictness from the administration, then there is some stagnation and some arrests are made otherwise on seeing cops, the accused persons escaped from the spot.\u00a0 But, it continued to be a regular feature.
