To check the illegal manufacture and sale of illicit liquor, the raids are conduced as a part of operations to control it, said excise official.<\/p>\n<p>It is pertinent to mention that a majority of the population settled along the banks of Sutlej River belongs to minority communities and most male members of the village are daily-wagers.\u00a0 These people have not been getting any lucrative employment offers and hence taking up illicit liquor trade to make both ends meet.<\/p>\n<p>During the raid approximately 64,000 litres of lahan and 1,250 bottles of illicit liquor recovered and destroyed on the spot being unclaimed and to avoid its misuse.
