Ferozepur<\/span>: In a big haul, the Excise department on Sunday seized 1,8,000 ltrs<\/span> \u2018lahan\u2019<\/span>, 600 bottles of illicit liquor seized from villages near Sutlej River and destroyed on spot to avoid its misuse.<\/p>\n

The illicit liquor business, using \u2018lahan\u2019<\/span> (raw material for making liquor), has been going on in border areas for a long time. To check the illegal manufacture and sale of illicit liquor, the raids are conduced as a part of operations to control it, said an excise official.<\/p>\n

An excise raid was conducted in the enclaves of river Satluj<\/span> in the surrounds of villages Ali Ke, Chandiwala<\/span>, Habib<\/span> Ke, Nehangan<\/span> Wala<\/span> Chughe<\/span> and Chakar<\/span> Da Bedha<\/span>, under the supervision of Excise Inspector Gurbakhsh<\/span> Singh, Zira<\/span> along with excise force Ferozepur<\/span>, said excise official, adding destroying the seized \u2018lahan\u2019<\/span> and illicit liquor, on the spot on its recovery is to avoid any mishap on its misuse.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
