RASA submits 5-point memorandum to Govt before opening schools from April 1<\/p>\n

Ferozepur, March 30, 2021: The members of Recognized and Affiliated Schools Association \u2013 RASA, on Tuesday, submitted a memorandum to ADC Rajdeep Kaur for the opening of schools from April 1 and for holding the Board exams at the earliest, led by Jaswinder Singh Sandhu President along with Narinder Singh Kesar, Ravi Sharma, Manjit Virk, Sunil Monga, Rakesh Arora, Kamaljit Singh and others.<\/p>\n

RASA has taken the plea that with the closure of educational institutions in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, all classes \u2013 students, teachers, non-teaching staff, class-IV employees, school transporters and others directly or indirectly connected with the business of the school.<\/p>\n

The future of 10th and 12th class students is at stake for applying at the various end in the absence of non-scheduling of papers, added RASA members.<\/p>\n

Expressing concern over going on, during corona pandemic, all other activities like \u2013 political, religious, social and economic, as usual now, President Sandhu further stated that it is not understood as to why only the schools have been closed due to corona pandemic when all other activities \u2013 political, religious, social and economic.<\/p>\n

Giving a five-point proposal for opening of the schools, he said, \u00a0first- the consent of the parents may be obtained before opening schools, second \u2013 the Board exams may be scheduled at the earliest so that the students may prepare themselves for the next competitive exams and the students may appear in exams in the schools only on consent from their parents, third- in case it is not possible to open the schools the wages of teaching and non-teaching staff may be paid to them, for their survival over day-to-day expenses, fourth- in case the government is not able to take any decision, the school managements may be allowed to relieve their staff and fifth- as per government claims, there is 15 percent increase in school strength in government schools but at the same time, this much percentage has been lost by the private schools.\u00a0 In case all these arrangements are to cope up with the required infrastructure, then it is discrimination with the students in the private schools.<\/p>\n

RASA urged the Punjab government to set up a Welfare Board for Private Schools like other welfare boards.\u00a0 It is an admitted that all schools are running on a non-profit basis, but when parents submit their fees, they expect the services in return but the private schools are also closed with the government schools because the problems of the two categories are different, their regulatory authority should also be different and their problems should be discussed while making decisions about private schools.<\/p>\n
