Police recover 21,100 \u00a0ltrs \u2018lahan\u2019 in Ferozepur border villages<\/p>\n
Ferozepur, February 28, 2021:\u00a0 As part of the strategy to tighten the noose on the nefarious activities taking place in the Ferozepur zone, a raid was conducted in the enclaves of river Satluj, near Village Habib-ke, Ferozepur, leading to recovery of 21,100 ltrs of Lahan.<\/p>\n
Working swiftly on a tip-off, the police patrolling team recovered 21,000 liters \u2018lahan\u2019 from border village Habib Ke and to avoid its misuse, it was destroyed on the spot.<\/p>\n
Added here, the police and excise officials had been active after the hooch incident in Amritsar and Tarn Taran taking more than 100 lives.<\/p>\n
In another two raids, Jaswinder Singh of Arif Ke was arrested with 40 lit illicit liquor and Balvir Singh of Talwandi Bhai with recover of 80 lit lahan.<\/p>\n
Giving this information, Joginder Singh informed that a case under Sections 61\/1\/14 of Excise Act has been registered against five persons namely Kali, Veeru, Dara Singh, Bohri and Ashok Kumar resident of village Ali Ke.\u00a0 A tip-off was received that these persons are doing the business of brewing illicit liquor on the banks of River and if raided, huge quantity of \u2018lahan\u2019 can be recovered.<\/p>\n
He said, the police have been informed in this regard to register a case.\u00a0 No arrest could be made at the time of the raid, as none was available at the spot where this illegal work was going on.<\/p>\n
Senior police official said, the department was keeping a strict vigil to check the working stills of country-made\u00a0 illicit liquor and to wipe out this menace, the campaign against the mischievous elements involved in this trade would be a regular feature on the basis of inputs and tip-offs about brewing illicit liquor and they will not be spared to face the music of law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
