Cops swoop down on banned Chinese thread sellers, victims see curb on its sale<\/p>\n

\"\"Ferozepur<\/span>, January 23, 2020:\u00a0 The people, who have sustained injuries in the past due to the Chinese string, have sought a complete curb on the sale of such products as despite its ban, it is easily available in the market.<\/p>\n

Working actively on the use of banned thread, the Ferozepur<\/span> Police swoop down on banned Chinese thread sellers and booked one person under on recovery of banned Chinese thread for flying kites. Apart from victimizing people, these strings pose threat to the birds as well.<\/p>\n

Since the Chinese thread is harmful made up of metallic substances, if it comes in contact with overhead wires, it can cause a blackout in the area.\u00a0 It is also a good conductor of electricity so it can lead to electrocution of the user if entangled with electric wires.<\/p>\n

The district administration had already issued orders banning the China-made thread, which is dangerous for both humans and animals. The police force is out on a drive, checking different parts of the city looking for illegal sellers.<\/p>\n

A tip-off was received by the police that the accused is selling the Chinese thread near the Shimla<\/span> Talkies and waiting for the customers.\u00a0 On raiding, the person was identified as Akash<\/span> of Kasuri<\/span> Gate with the recovery of 30 rolls of Chinese thread was booked under Section 188 IPC – disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant and released on surety bond being a bailable offense. \u00a0During the last week, a 30-year-old youth identified as Manga Singh, died after his throat was slit by the banned Chinese Manja \u2013 kite string \u2013 while he was riding his motorcycle.<\/p>\n

A senior police official said, a special campaign was being carried out to check the incidents of injuries due to Chinese thread adding that they could also be booked under Sections 39 and 51 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and Section 15 of Environment Protection Act 1986.<\/p>\n
