In 26 days, 51 proclaimed offenders (POs) land in Ferozepur police net
Ferozepur, February 20, 20224: Under the tutelage of SSP Soumya Mishra, a special drive was conducted against proclaimed offenders (POs) involved in heinous crimes during which as many as, 51 Proclaimed Offenders (POs) during the period of only 26 days from January 25 to February 19 were arrested or traced, wanted in the cases and booked at the police stations in the district.
Added here, a Proclaimed Offender is a person absconding from the court proceeding where the court announces the particular individual as a transmitted offender and guides the concerned law enforcement authorities to capture the individual named in the proceeding and make him stand under the watchful eye of the court.
Randhir Kumar, SP (Investigation) said, “In all, 51 POs – 4 in January and 47 POs in February were arrested”. Recently one accused named Jagga, convicted on March 8, 2018, for 10 years in the NDPS case, jumped parole on February 2, 2022, and was arrested by the police. Jagga was booked in the case of recovery of 1120 intoxicant tablets under the NDPS Act on August 11, 2015, under Sections 22/61/85 at Kulgarhi police station in Ferozepur and was on parole in this case, he added.
