High alert on Railway Stations within 7 KMs of Indo-Pak Border
Ferozepur, April 9, 2017: Sometime back on threatening letter from Islamic State (IS) to the railways, to blow the Railway Protection Posts (RPF), the security in the Ferozepur Rail Division was beefed up on the railway stations along the international border touching Pakistan besides of the RPF posts.
RPF sources said, the security staff has been alerted after reviewing the situation in the crime meeting, in whole of the division by the senior officers of the RPF
It may be mentioned that 18 railway stations in Ferozepur division falls within 7 KMs of international Indo-Pak border in this division. During 2016, 5 bombs were also planted at Dinanagar railway track by the terrorists in Gurdaspur district.
Not only this, during February 2015, four Pakistani intruders managed to escape from Ferozepur Cantt railway station situated at just 10 KMs from international border, of which there is no trace so far.
All these incidents itself speaks of threat to the security of railways and passengers as well. No doubt, it is perhaps the first time threat to target the RPF, but the railways security staff is on its toes to meet any challenge but after recent reviewing the situation, the RPF posts of the railways along the border have been on the alert and equipped with the latest equipments to give a befitting reply to any attack.
