High Alert – It’s official. Officially Tense – Unofficially Still Normal in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, September 29, 2016: After the official announcement of surgical strikes on terror launch pads of Line of Control (LoC), all meetings, functions, seminars were cancelled instantly with a message of war like situation in the border town.
While the entire border which touches the Pakistan territory is 3323 KMs – 1225 KMs in J&K, 553 KMs in Punjab, 1037 KMs in Rajasthan and 508 KMs in Gujarat.
High level meetings between the army, civil and police officials are going on to take stock of the situation and to take precautionary measures in view of escalating of war like situation on the border.
It was announced officially by local MLA Rural disrupting the District Level Farmers Training Camp organized by the Agri. Department with huge gathering and everyone left for home.
Later on, an official letter was floated from the Education Department to all school heads to close the schools till further orders.
A round to the city revealed that everything was going normal except the corner discussion and exchanging the news. Some people were seen making calls to the nears and dears at a distant places with a view to accommodate them in the event of shifting like situation.
A rush was also seen at the ATMs and perhaps may go dry today. Some people were also heard over operating the lockers to withdraw the valuables.
Sources said, the villagers within 10 KMs on the border belt have been asked to pack up and be ready for evacuation within 24 hours when ordered in case the situation so arises.
The retreat ceremony at the Indo-Pak border – lowering of flags in the evening over a ceremonious function daily in the presence of audience from both the sides – have been cancelled.
