Heavy rain leads to flood-like situation in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 27, 2016: Torrential rains triggered due to heavy rains since morning have created flood like situation in Ferozepur due to heavy rains in the morning, after the roasting heat in the city for the past one week.
Rains affected normal life here in the city as well where roads were flooded leading to traffic congestion. The downpour that started today morning is continuing at the time of filing of this report.
A round to the city – Modi Mill Road, Manjit Palace, Police Station, Udham Singh Chowk, Delhi Gate, Makhu Gate and Bansi Gate, Kasuri Gate -on the bicycle by the Correspondent, who clicked certain photographs shows that the whole sewerage system in the city is choked and pushed back. In Preet Nagar area, the water has even entered the houses.
One of the resident of Sodhian Wala Mohalla – Deep Bharat Mehta said, our mohalla being low-lying area, it is flood-like situation with 3-4 feet deep water. Even the residents raised slogan in front of the local MC about the poor managed storage system in the City. He further said that in case immediate steps are not taken to improve the sewerage system in the city, the situation will further worsen in the coming rainy days.
The vehicles were seen down due to pouring of water in the machinery and left in between and due to heavy current of water, two wheelers were taken away at a distance.
People were seen taking the pics and making movies and were viral on the social network.
The tall claims of the development of the sewerage system in the city stand exposed and if the incessant rains continue for whole of the day, the situation could further worsen in the city.
