Health services to hit, Punjab Pharmacy Officers threaten to proceed on strike from April 20
Ferozepur, April 19, 2021: Punjab health department is already worried over to cope with the health services in view of the surge in COVID cases in the cases and the same is likely to further hit in the state with the announcement of proceeding on strike from April 20 by Punjab Rural Pharmacy Officers Associations in the state, who are fighting for regularization of their service for the last 15 years.
In view of the surge in Corona positive cases in the state, the health services are needed in the coming days but the same is likely to hit if around 1100 Pharmacists in the state proceed on strike.
Our demand is to regularize their service as they are working on a contract basis on a very low salary, said Hanu Tiwari Sate President, Rural Pharmacy Officers Association adding neither they are being regularized nor there is an increase in their wages. Despite the assurance, some technical aspect issue is taken as an excuse all the time. It is very unfortunate that even the COVID duty incentive has been given when they are performing their duties sincerely but regularization of services issue stands nowhere.
We cannot survive on this salary. Despite our COvId-19 duties, the government is ready to listen to us.
He said we have decided to proceed on strike from April 20 to register our protest and will not attend to any work while sitting in the dispensaries, till such time any notification is issued to regularize their services. Intensifying our agitation, a permanent dharna in front of the Panchayat Minister’s residence will also be arranged.
