Health Deptt to check COVID negative report prior to 72 hrs of journey by train
Ferozepur, May 4, 2021: In view of the spike in Coronavirus cases, and fresh lockdown guidelines of the Punjab government till May 15, allowing the passengers to enter the state by air, rail and road, with Covid negative report prior to 72 hrs of journey or at least one does of Covid vaccine two weeks back. The health department of the Punjab government will make arrangements for checking Covid negative report at the stations in the Ferozepur rail division.
Meanwhile, the state government has also undertaken several measures including penal action and fine for not wearing masks and imposed lockdown, night curfew to prevent the spread.
Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur Division, Rajesh Aggarwal said, Being the responsibility of the state government to check the negative Covid report coming by train to check their Covid infection by rapid antigen, the medical teams have been appointed by the health department at Katra, Udhampur, Jammu Tavi etc railway stations falling under Jammu and Kashmir for the purpose. Similarly, a team from Amritsar health department has also inspected the installation of the kiosk for checking negative reports of passengers.
He said the railway is ready to extend any cooperation to the government for making arrangements for checking of passengers coming from outside, for Covid tests.
