Four cops booked for illegal detention of a person

Ferozepur, March 8, 2017:  Ferozepur police have booked four police officials including one Home Guard jawan one Sub-Inspector for illegally detaining a person in custody for two days and extorting money against his release.

A case under Sections 365, 342, 323 and 324 IPC and PC Act has been registered against the officials namely – Om Parkash Handa, SI, Kulwant Singh ASI, Mukhtiar Singh, Hav of Punjab Police and Jaspal Singh Home Guard jawan.

In a written complaint by Tinku son of Mukthair Singh of village Jalalawala, it has been alleged that the police officials booked in the case, virtually illegally detained him besides beating him and later on releasing by extorting money.

Sources said, no arrest has been made so far.  However, nothing was said about the reason behind detain the person and the investigation into the case is going on.
