Firing outside Jail: 3 held, Congress leader succumbs to injuries during treatment
Ferozepur, June 23, 2024: On Friday late evening, three persons came on a bullet, runway after firing on a Congress leader Lalit Passi of Ferozepur Cantt, who was waiting for the release of his friend Ravi from the jail, who was injured with hitting of two bullets and later on shifted to the hospital for medical aid, reported to have died.
Lalit is facing 8 criminal charges under various Sections in Bhatinda, Ferozepur Cantt, and Sadar police stations and he had recently came out of jail on bail in July 2023. Meanwhile, a case was registered against three persons – Nanna, Saleem, and Ajay Joshi of Ferozepur Cantt – on the complaint of a victim under Sections 307, 34 IPC and 24, 25 of the Arms Act at Ferozepur City police station. Lalit has stated that I am a social worker and get the work done of the common man and I had personal enmity with Joshi and others on this account. They have attacked me to kill me and action may be taken against them.
However, the family members of the deceased Lalit Passi alias Lali alleged that the Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered the Ferozepur police to provide security to Lalit. Still, the police did not provide security to him.
Today, as per the information, Lalit reported to have died during the treatment at the hospital.
