Ferozepur, September 27, 2019: With a grant of whopping Rs. 5 Crore, the Ferozepur city to have new roads before the Diwali festival as the construction work of new road has been started by the municipal authority on Thursday, said Chander Gaind Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur.
MLA Ferozepur Parminder Singh Pinki and Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind on Thursday jointly lay down the stone for construction work of carpeting new mall road.
Divulging more Pinki and Gaind said that the grant has been received from the state government and construction work has begun at the Mall road of the city. He added that at first phase, four main roads have been identified for the construction that includes Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium to Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk Road, Makhu gate to RSD College Road, Khai road to Petrol Pump Road and Press Club chowk to Anil Baghi Road with a total cost of Rs. 209.18 Lakh (2.09 Crore).
In the second phase construction work of roads with the cost of remaining Rs. 3 Crore will be started and all the works are expected to finish before Diwali Festival, adding he said that the district administration will leave no stone unturned to bring a slew of development projects in the district as there is no dearth of funds for the development.
Gaind said that an amount of Rs. 128 Lakh will be spent on the construction of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium to Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk Road. Similarly Rs. 26.13 Lakh on Makhu gate to RSD College Road, Rs. 41.18 Lakh on Khai road to Petrol Pump Road and Rs. 13.87 Lakh will be spent on the construction of Press Club chowk to Anil Baghi Road.
He said that this will provide a momentum to the development of the city besides solving various traffic-related problems with the construction of new roads. The deputy commissioner asked officials of municipal authority to undertake this task with sincerity as any kind of callousness and negligence in this work is unwarranted hence will attract strict departmental action.
Deputy Commissioner further revealed that soon the stray cattle problem in the district will be resolved as the district administration has received a sum or Rs. 3 Crore to set up a new Cow Shelter in the district. The district administration is searching a suitable place for the task and construction will be started just after finalizing the location for new Cow shelter.
