Ferozepur Railway Division earned 134 percent more revenue of Rs.327 cr during August
Ferozepur, September 4, 2020: The Ferozepur Railway Division one of the biggest rail division of the Indian Railways – known as the ‘Life Line of India’ – despite various challenges due to Corona epidemic, continue to extend its services for transporting the immigrants to other States and essential commodities and earned record revenue of Rs.327 crore in a single month.
Rajesh Aggarwal, Divisional Railway Manager informed that Ferozepur Division is ensuring the supply of essential commodities to different parts of the country through freight trains and parcel special trains in an effort to strengthen the economy of the Government of India. He informed that the average speed of the freight trains of the division has increased by 46 percent this year as compared to last year, as a result of which it takes less time for a freight train to travel from its initial terminal to the destination terminal and back. Due to less time taken, there has been an increase in the frequency of freight trains which has resulted in increased availability of rakes which is ensuring the loading of more goods by the Division. Due to the increase in speed, the use of a diesel engine has improved by 25% per month as compared to the previous year. Similarly, the use of electric engines has improved by 45% Punctuality of mail/express trains in Ferozepur division has increased by 7% to 98% in August 2020.
The DRM informed that due to the continuous marketing efforts of the Business Development Unit – BDU – of the Division, the loading and revenue has increased significantly in this financial year as compared to the previous financial year. Due to the efforts of BDU, a special achievement was achieved by registering load on 31st August for the first time in the newly constructed freight terminal Khasa.
He informed that the two-point loading of automobiles in NMG racks was sent from Nasrala to Warangal and Reddipalem. A new traffic loading of Piecemeal (small consignment) left Moga for Salachpara with food grains in a rack of BCN. For the first time, cattle fodder was loaded and sent from Jagraon railway station to Chalakudi railway station in a rack of 42 BCN.
He further said the Board has set new records in freight shipments despite various challenges due to the epidemic. Ferozepur Division loaded 1.77 million tonnes of freight in August 2020 which is 116% more than the same period last year and this is the best shipment of one month in the history of the Division.
DRM added that the Board shipped 1.58 million tonnes of foodgrains in August 2020 which is 155% more than the corresponding period of the previous year and this is the best foodgrain shipment in the history of the Board and earlier this record was 1.20 million tonnes in July 2020. The Board earned goods revenue of about Rs. 327 crore during August 2020, which is 134% more than the revenue of Rs. 140 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.
