Ferozepur police panel destroys drugs seized in 94 cases under NDPS Act
Ferozepur, May 20, 2023: The Drug Disposal Committee of the Ferozepur police on Saturday destroyed heroin, poppy husk, tablets, ganja and green plants. The contraband seized in 90 cases in Ferozepur district was consigned to flames.
The seized drugs were disposed of by the Drug Disposal Committee under the tutelage of Bhupinder Singh, SSP Ferozepur by Manjit Singh, SP (Investigation), Fateh Singh Brar, DSP(D), keeping in view the guidelines of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, at the premises of M/s Sukhbir Agro Engineering Limited (SAIL).
Divulging with the details, SSP Bhupinder Singh said, the drugs disposed of were 9.42 kg heroin, 62.500 kg poppy husk, 49,655 tablets, 5 gm ganja and 1040 green plants, seized in 94 cases under NDPS Act.
SSP said that the Punjab Police on directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is acting on mission mode to rid the state of the drug menace. He pointed out that the vigil against drug peddlers had been stepped up in the past. He further said, the youngsters are being forced into this illegal trade by elements unfriendly to the country and exhorting the society to proactively assist authorities in this vital cause.
