Ferozepur Police focus on testing Covid violators, distribute free masks

Ferozepur, April 16, 2021:  Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in the city, the police department embarked on an awareness drive, besides distributing face masks, especially to those flouting government regulation put in place in a public place, to stop the spread of the coronavirus and also arranged COVID-19 sampling for testing coronavirus.   Above 45 years persons were being got vaccinated by sending them to the Civil Hospital.  The rapid spread of the viral infection was also being conveyed to the public.

As per the latest report, there are 574 active COVID-19 positive cases in Ferozepur including 45 fresh cases on Friday, with 183 deaths including two deaths of 2-year male and 55-year female. Since the outbreak of the virus in this part, 1,19,504 samples were taken, ut of which 1,12,834 were found negative and 6131 positive.  However, 5373 corona-positive cases have since recovered from the virus, after proper treatment as per the guidelines of the health department.

SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena himself supervising the campaign by standing on the roadside said, the police are attempting to make people more aware about COVID-19 and how to protect themselves and others from the infectious virus. He further added that any callousness in this task would be dealt with a heavy hand.

Making an appeal to the general public on seeing the roaming of people without masks, he said, all should come forward to fight with the disease and put wiser the others on this important issue, to put a check on the further transmission of the virus in the society.

S.P.Khera, President Sr. Citizens Forum said, “I am glad that the local police are handing out masks and explaining to the public that we should wear masks not only for ourselves but also for the people around us”.
