Ferozepur maintains its first position in wheat procurement
1.49 lac MTs in Ferozepur out of 7.74 lac ton in the State
Ferozepur, April 23, 2015: An official spokesman of the Punjab government said that 8, 29,588 lakh MT of wheat had been procured in the state till last evening. The government agencies procured 7, 74, 878 lakh MT (93.4%) for central pool. While the private traders procured 54,710 MT (6.6%) of wheat.
Giving the details of agency wise procurement, he said that PUNGRAIN procured maximum amongst the government agencies procuring 1, 85,731 MT (22.4%) whereas MARKFED procured 1, 73,509 MT (20.9%) PUNSUP procured 1,35,347 MT (16.3%) and PSWC 1,02,488 MT (12.4%).
The Central government agency FCI has procured 95,622 MT (11.5%) of wheat for the central pool.District Ferozepur maintained its first position by procuring 1, 49,211 MT of wheat followed by Bathinda and Fazilka procuring 1, 10,091 MT and 1, 01,305 MT of paddy in whole.
Meanwhile, according to the spokesperson of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, detailed guidelines to execute smooth and hassle free procurement operations in the state have already been issued to the concerned. Necessary arrangements have also been made in all the 1810 purchase centres of Punjab.
Today, Amit Kumar, ADC, Sundeep Singh Garha, SDM, Lakhbir Singh, SP(H) and officers of procuring agencies had a tour to purchase centre Suba Qadim and others to review the procurement, lifting and weight of the bags in the mandis.
ADC however, informed that all the agencies in the district have procured 1.59,523 MTs wheat in the district including today’s purchase. Giving agencywise detail, he said, Pungrain 37205, Markfed 33886, Punsup 29185, Warehouse 19505, Punjab Agro 14745, FCI 14685 and 10312 by private traders.
In the mandis, he said, the farmers, arthias and transporters will not face any problems in the mandis.
