Ferozepur in grip of ‘silent killer’- Dengue fever, one more case of Dengue detected
Ferozepur, October 13, 2016: For the last more than one month, the residents of Ferozepur, irrespective of any age, are in the grip of Dengue, Checkungunia and viral fever. The government as well as private clinics are full of such patients with an abnormally high body temperature, accompanied by shivering, restlessness, loss of appetite, dry cough, slightly sore throat and bodyaches. Despite preventive measures by the health department and municipal council, as many as around 165 cases of dengue, 6 of chickengunia and number of viral fever cases have been noticed. This is only an official data, the number of cases getting treatment locally and referred or patients gone at their own to Ludhiana, Amritsar are Faridkot are much more. With the detection of one more care of Chickungunian in the city in Kanshi Nagri colony, the health department immediately came into action and arranged for fogging spray in the entire area. Few days back, one teenage girl died due to loss of white pallets as she could not be shifted to Ludhiana on referral by the local hospital in the absence of ventilator ambulance. It has put a big question mark about the non-availability of basic amenities for the treatment of patients. Dr.Jai Singh, Civil Surgeon informed that due to later summer season, the dengue, chickungunia and viral fever are taking the residents in Ferozepur and the situation will improve only with the change of climate. He said, the fogging machine operation is being repeated in the city and to check the existence of larva by the teams constituted for the purpose by targeting the disease carrying mosquitoes at the egg and large stage. Sat Pal Chawla of Malaria Deptt supervising the spray and fogging machine said an awareness campaign has been started in the city by pasting the posters, distributing pamphlets, to keep the surrounding neat and clean by following the anti-dengue measures.
