Ferozepur cops go easy on violators, offer roses to spread awareness on V-Day
Ferozepur, February 14, 2024: The local police have found a novel way of making people remember their meeting with the traffic police. They are not only guiding the violators about rules but also handing them a rosebud.
While roses were given to all road safety norm violators in Ferozepur, in some parts of the city, the police made the violators pledge that they would not violate the road safety rules and be more involved in creating awareness, said Randhir Kumar,l SP(D) while giving roses to the violators at Shaheed Udham Singh chowk on Valentine Day.
Instead of prosecuting people for violating and issuing challans, the Ferozepur Police switched to a non-coercive method by offering roses to the violators and sensitizing them about the need to stay indoors on Sunday. At other places, they urged a group of violators to educate another group about the need to stay safe and follow necessary precautions.
Randhir Kumar, SP said, the handing over of roses will make people remember the incident of traffic violation. It is just for a change, a non-coercive mode has been adopted today on V-Day. The emphasis is on educating violators and utilizing them to further awareness among the residents. This is a creative way to engage people and such initiatives have increased awareness, he added.
