Ferozepur Collects 40 tons of waste!
By Abhishek Arora
The day started with an array of birght children, school teachers lending a helping hand to collect waste and garbage in order to make their hometown neat and clean. The district administation was on its tender hooks to make this a sucess. Indeed, it was a success, a whopping 40 tons of waste was collected only from some selcted pockets of Ferozepur city within 2 hours. The social media is replete with the images of volunteers beeming through their teeth and posing with the high ups of District Administraiton and politicians, showcasing their "find of the day" ; heaps of garbage and plastic.
But what makes me ponder is the fact that what are we going to do with this trophy of the day; the heaped garbage? Do we have any plans to recycle the collected waste? Or, are we going to dump it a little away from the town, so that the town looks clean but the garbage devil is still very much there. hybernating for some time, it will be right back there where it was. Again waiting to be collected !
Lets take a pledge that we will keep our surroundings clean everyday a year and not once a year! Lets not wait for the Govt or administraiton to organise a public fucntion to mark some important day.
