Farmers’ protest at Shambu station hits 187 trains
Ferozepur, May 16, 2024: On the 93rd day of the farmers’ protest at Shambhu station, as many as 187 trains were affected causing a huge loss to the railways and inconvenience to the public, who had pre-planned their official or personal journeys due to this agitation at Shambhu station on Ambala Cantt Junction- Sahnewal section of Ambala Division.
There has been no response from the railways and government on this account, perhaps the top brass is busy in the country’s Lok Sabha elections, and it looks that across-the-table talk will be only after the final results on June 4. The
During the protest, the farmers, labourers, and family members have also joined and are now planning for a huge gathering on completion of 100 days.
As per the railway release today, as many as 68 trains have been cancelled, 104 diverted and 15 short-terminated or short-originated trains.
The farmers are sitting on dharna with the support of farmers outfits – Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha – demanding two major demands – one, the release of three farmers by Haryana police and a guarantee for MSP.
