Farmers oppose BJP leaders meeting in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, July 25, 2021: The agitated group of farmers protesting against the Centre’s farm laws, on Sunday, chased away a local BJP leader where a party meeting was underway. The farmers opposed on coming to know the BJP leaders holding executive meeting at the residence of BJP President Surinder Singh Bagge Ke Pippal.
On coming to know of the visit of BJP leader at the residence of BJP local president, the farmers gathered out the Guru Nanak Colony where heavy police, with barricades and water cannons van was deployed and barricades were put up.
The farmers in good numbers protested, removed the barricades, entered in the colony by opening the gate and shouted slogans against the BJP District President and Modi government at the centre. Farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, have been camping at Delhi’s borders for over seven months in protest against the three contentious agri laws.
The three laws The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020 were passed by Parliament in September last year.
Farmer leader said, our protests will continue till such time the three farm bills are not withdrawn.
On the other hand, District President BJP Suridner Singh Bagge Ke Pippla said, we are holding the meeting at our residence which is being opposed. He said party’s political rivals, under the farb of the farmers’ protest had been trying to throttle the voice of the BJP in the State. He said, in case we are not safe at our residence, one can well imagine the plight of the working in the State.
