Ferozepur: In a major crackdown on counterfeit currency on a tip-off about the fake currency notes, Ferozepur Police have arrested two individuals involved in printing fake Indian currency notes. The police recovered a staggering amount of counterfeit currency, including notes of 100, 200, 500, and a colour printer used for the operation.
The recovery of fake currency is in the denomination of Rs.65,700 of Rs.100 notes, Rs.2,13,600 of Rs.200 notes, and Rs.63,500 of Rs.500 notes totalling Rs.3,42,800. The recovered fake currency was meant for circulation in the open market.
According to the Reserve Bank of India, if you receive fake currency in a transaction and can’t remember where you got it, you should inform the police or bank that counterfeiting currency is a punishable offence. In the past there had been cases of fake currency and the National Investigation Agency has also taken up several cases.
The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to uncover the extent of the racket with the registration of a case under Sections 178, 180, and 181 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kulgarhi police station.
SSP Soumya Mishra said, the accused, identified as Jaskaran Singh alias Rajan and Aakash alias Ladda of Zira, were apprehended on August 2, 2024, in a joint operation conducted by the Ferozepur Police.
Preliminary investigation revealed that both the accused were playing PUB G when they came in contact later on, the accused not only used the fake currency notes but printed them by wasting a few fake notes in trial and error, by learning through Google and YouTube about the quality of ink to be used, how to copy the security features
SSP Mishra expressed the district police’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens. She emphasized the strict action being taken against criminals and anti-social elements.
Meanwhile, further investigations are on with Gurdev Singh IO, with a special focus on its kingpin behind it using the printing equipment for the fake currency, circulation area and. and identifying any other individuals involved, by taking a remand of the accused.
