Excise officials attacked during raid in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, March 21, 2023: An incident of attack on excise officials, who had gone to the village Habib Wala to raid the illegal liquor extraction, has been reported. An attempt was also made to seize government weapons from the police. Police vehicle was also vandalized. The incident took place when the excise department team raided the village on receiving information about illegal consumption of liquor and trade.

It looks like the fear of the law is disappearing from the minds of people dealing in drugs and illegal liquor business, in the state.   People are not even recognizing the police, the latest case has come to light from the border village of Ferozepur, Habibwala where excise department employees and people dealing in liquor have been attacked. The vehicles of the Excise Department have also been attacked.

According to the information received, the Excise Department received information that a person named Jagir Singh is in the business of selling illegal liquor in village Habib Wala.  When the Excise Department raided his house today, the situation became tense when the people in the illegal liquor trade attacked the team of the Excise Department and police officials – Dilbagh Singh Inspector and Malook Singh respectively-  with sticks and bricks.  Even the uniform of the police official was also torn. In the meantime police also reached there and one person is reported to have been arrested.

The arrested person has been brought to Sadar police station in Ferozepur where the police are taking further action as per the law.
