Excise and police cops jointly recovered 24,000 ltrs ‘lahan’
Ferozepur, November 5, 2020: Under the ongoing ‘Red Rose Operation’, on Wednesday, a joint raid was conducted in the surrounds of village Habib Ke in the enclaves of river Sutlej, under the supervision of Excise and police officials and recovered approximately 24,000 ltrs of ‘lahan’.
The excise department has been up in arms after the tragic hooch incident in Amritsar and Tarn Taran taking more than 100 lives and has destroyed a huge quantity of illicit liquor in various operations.
Excise and Taxation Officer, Karambir Mahla informed that during the raid, 24,000 ltrs lahan and destroyed on the spot. Besides, 18 tarpaulins, 3 iron drums,3 aluminum utensils,3 plastic pipes, and 2 tubes containing 300 bottles of illicit liquor were also recovered from the spot which was taken into possession. Police authorities have been informed to register a case in this regard.
However, there was no arrest as the alleged accused fled away from the scene before the raid.
The campaign against the extraction of illegal liquor will be intensified and those involved in this trade will not be spared and has to face the music of law, he added.
