Energy Research Centre, PU organizes one day National Seminar on Sustainable Renewable Energy Generation
Inventions and innovations in the renewable energy area is need of the hour : Dr.Gurinder Pal
Ferozepur, March 21: A one day National Seminar on ‘Sustainable Renewable Energy Generation’ was organized on 21.03.2015 by Energy Research Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Prof. U.S.Shivhare, Honorary Director of Energy Research Centre, Panjab University welcomed the chief guest Dr Gurinder Pal Singh – an eminent scientist from USA, keynote speakers and participants – to the seminar.
A large number of academicians, people from industry, researchers and students from the different parts of India participated in the seminar.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr Gurinder Pal emphasized the need and importance of inventions and innovations in the renewable energy area.
Prof. S.K.Sharma, Emeritus Professor of Panjab University delivered a keynote lecture on ‘Prospectus & Problems of Renewable Energy in India’ in which he explained the avenues and possible research areas in the field of solar, photovoltaic renewable energy and energy storage.
Prof. Y.K.Yadav, Director, Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewable Energy, Kapurthala presented an expert talk on ‘Bioenergy in India’ and provided the information on huge potential of bio-energy in India.
Dr R.P.Saini of IIT-Roorkee delivered a keynote lecture on ‘Sustainable development of Micro-hydro energy in India’.
While presenting vote of thanks, Prof. R.K.Wanchoo of Panjab University encouraged the researchers to work in the emerging areas of renewable energy with a team spirit.
Prof S. K. Sharma awarded prizes to the best presentations. Prof. Amrit Pal Toor, organizing secretary of the seminar, congratulated the winners and thanked keynote speakers and participants.
