Embezzlement detected in Post Office Ferozepur Cantt
Ferozepur, March 25, 2016: In the misappropriation case of Rs.25 lakh by opening seven fake accounts in the Post Office, Ferozepur Cantt, Pawan Bansal, Postmaster has been suspended on the statements of the senior officers of the department and police has also been informed in this regard for further action.
As the sources, Pawan Bansal, Postmaster in connivance with an employee in the post office from his close relations, have embezzled Rs.25 to Rs.30 lakhs.
According to the departmental officials, about a months back, when the accounts of the post office were being put online, an embezzlement was noticed. On in-depth investigation into the matter, it came to the fore that Pawan Bansal had withdrawn cash with the opening of fake accounts of his relatives.
From another sources, the Postmaster transferred heavy amounts by opening the account in the name of his mother Ram Tirath in participation with his relative and later on the same amount was withdrawn from her mother’s account.
When the matter with regard to fake accounts, was brought to the notice of senior officers, seven such accounts were detected after thorough investigation.
The departmental investigation is still going on and addition in the embezzlement amount is expected.

Pawan Bansal, Postmaster has been placed under suspenction and departmental investigation is still going on. More such fake accounts are expected and embezzled amount may also increase. In the meantime, the police authorities have also been informed for proceeding further into the case.
