Election campaign to warm-up on announcement of Congress candidate in Fazilka
Fazilka, January 2, 2017: Fazilka constituency too has become an important seat in the political circles with the betting on Samarbir Singh a candidate by Aam Aadmi Party, possibilities of fielding of SAD MP Sher Singh Ghubaya son Davinder Singh, who recently joined the Congress party and facing of challenge by Surjit Kumar Jyani, a veteran of five elections and priestly holding the important portfolio of Health Minister, Punjab Cabinet.
With no formal announcement of candidates especially by the Congress party, the campaign is yet to warm-up in Fazilka.
In the last elections, Surjit Kumar Jyani, was the winner from BJP seat in Fazilka and 40,901 votes were polled in his favour against the runner-up Jaswinder Singh Rocky Independent candidate got 39,209 votes.
There have been huge development works during the last five years tenure of SAD-BJP alliance in Fazilka the newly carved district on bifurcation of Ferozepur district.
Added here, There is a great resentment among the Congress works that an Akali leader is being imposed on Congress workers in Fazilka. Dr.Rinwa has reminded the party of 1992 Assembly elections whe he had won from Fazilka as an Independent candidate after the Congress denied him ticket. He also won elections in 2002.
Dr.Monidner Rinwa, former Congress MLA, is another ticket aspirant from Fazilka whose supporters recently organized a Hunkar Rally to prove his show of strength but the party is headed for a tough time with the joining of Davinder Ghubaya to Congress and in queue for contesting election from Fazilka itself.
AAP leader Simarbir Singh sai,d the Congress and Akali-BJP government have looted the people and have enjoyed their terms by making false promises with the voters. But now the common man will not be influenced by the traditional political parties and wants to see the AAP in power in the coming Assemble elections in Punjab.
