Dy.CM’s constituency Jalalabad becomes ‘Centre Stage’ of protests
Ferozepur, December 4, 2016 : The Jalalabad constituency represented by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has become the Centre Stage for the protesters of different unions of government employees fighting for their various demands. The union leaders have selected Jalalabad to expose the anti-employees policies of the government when the Assembly elections are due in early 2017. Speaking to this correspondent, Vijay Garg, a lecturer from Malout, a social activist said, the percentage of reserved categories have gone so high that the general category aspirant for higher studies and joining government are not safe in coming times. Another unionist, Rajinder Singh, representing the education department said, despite agreeing to issue notification for the regularization of contractual staff, the Punjab government has adopted the dilly-dallying attitude and just passing the time to wait for the announcement of model code of conduct to delay for announcing the orders for the next term. Not only this, the employees representing CPF Karamchari Union Punjab are also camping at Jalalabad to pressurize the government to restore the old pension scheme. They alleged that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister are touring the whole of Punjab for conducting the Sangat Darshan to listen to the problems of the people but ignoring the employees who are protesting in the constituency of Deputy Chief Minister. All the trade unions have warned the government to intensify their agitation with the coming nearer the Assembly elections.
