DPS celebrates its maiden Annual Function – ‘ANUGOONJ’
Ferozepur, December 17, 2018: DPS Ferozepur witnessed the glitz and grandeur of its maiden Annual Day event ‘Anugoonj’ on Saturday, 15th December 2018 amidst great zeal and zest. With the aim of instilling love and patriotism in the students, the grand day was based on the contributions of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the annals of India’s struggle for freedom as the underlying theme.
Maj Gen Jasvir Singh Sandhu, GOC, was the honourable Chief Guest for the occasion. Besides other dignitaries, Mrs. and Mr. Surinder Pal Singh Sooch, Mrs. and Mr. Sanjay Ahuja, the Members of Management, Members of SMC &PTA, Press and the Parents graced the occasion.
Ms. Nidhi Jain, the Head of the School shared the School’s Annual report and accentuated the academic accolades and the laurels won by the students at the various Dist., State and National level competitions. The tiny tots from Play Group to Grade I displayed an array of jingoistic dance performances and gripped the entire campus in the wave of patriotic fervour. The 75-minute ballet presented by the students from Grade II-XI was a testimony to the contribution of Bhagat Singh in the struggle for freedom spotlighting his intense patriotism coupled with cultivated idealism. The vibrancy with which the story was conceptualized through props and dances captivated the crowd. It was indeed a lesson for the younger generations who have little idea about the sacrifices made by the revolutionary martyr to get India her freedom. The riveting performances featuring the glorious saga drew an unceasing applause from the audience.
The Chief Guest, Major General Jasvir Singh Sandhu was superlative in his appreciation of the students, teachers and management for such an exemplary performance. He also lauded the vision and the relentless hard work put in by students and their mentors for presenting such a message-oriented programme.
The School Cultural Prefect proposed the vote of thanks. The programme culminated with the National Anthem promising even brighter hues for the coming years.
