Ferozepur, August 18, 2023: There was a breach near Hazara Singh Wala bridge connecting 25 villages along the Sutlej River near the international border in Ferozepur in the morning. The repair work is going on to plug the crack by officials of district administration, Army, BSF and NDRF staff. The situation is under control and people need not to panic, said Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner, who himself is monitoring the situation, while standing by the site. He was also accompanied by SSP Deepak Hillori and ADC Arun Kumar Sharma.
DC said, the flood affected people need not panic and the situation is under control. He said that with the help of tractor trolleys and JCB, the work is going on continuously to fill the crack in the bridge with earthen filled bags with the help of BSF, Army and NDRF. He said that if the crack along the bridge leads to a loss of communication with the people on the other side, then the army officials are also working to build an temporary bridge for the crossing of the people so that the people can get their belongings and animals be taken to the relief camps set up by the district administration.
He said that in the villages that have come under the influence of flood water, the district administration is continuously making efforts to help humans as well as animals. He said that while the district administration of Ferozepur is providing ration kits to the flood victims besides fodder for the livestock.
