Ferozepur, July 26, 2023: The District Legal Services Authority -DLSA- takes initiative to reunite Uzbekistan national women with her family, who was arrested from near Hussainiwala international border and could not produce any documents like passport etc.
In this context, an FIR under Section 3 of Passport Act, 14 Foreigners Act, 1946 was registered against her.
Under instructions of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, Ferozepur, Ekta Uppal, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA provided free legal services to that foreign national woman and panel advocates were nominated to argue her case.
Ekta Uppal, Secretary DLSA coordinated with the Investigating Officer in the case and as a result, it came to know that this wonan is innocent and is staying in India only because her documents have been lost. The foreign woman herself is a victim, who is also a widow and has three minor children, who are staying with different relatives, out of which one child is sick. She had come to India to earn money so that she could get treatment for her sick child. But her documents were lost in India due to which she was forced to stay in India for 3-4 years.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of Uzbekistan was contacted and informed about the credentials disclosed by her and also asked to start the process of inviting the Uzbekistan national woman, back to her country. After this conversation, two months temporary visa was sent by the Uzbekistan Embassy. Then, SSP was asked to complete the pending documents to be sent to the Uzbekistan Embassy, to make arrangements to send back the foreign national victim woman back to her country. Thus, appropriate steps have been taken to get the foreign national woman, out of these circumstances and reunite her with her family and soon she will be sent back to her country.
