DIG Maluja inaugurates Cyber Crime Police Station in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, July 1, 2024:  Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Ferozepur Range, today inaugurated the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ferozepur on the campus of Ferozepur Cantt police station.  SSP Soumiya Mishra was also present on this occasion.

With the proliferation of digital technology and the increasing prevalence of cybercrimes, establishing dedicated cyber crime police stations is aimed at strengthening law enforcement’s capabilities to tackle such offences effectively. These specialised units will investigate various cybercrimes, including hacking, online fraud, identity theft, and cyberbullying, among others.

DIG said that with the increase in online frauds,  the Punjab Government has taken a significant step towards enhancing cyber security and combating digital crimes by announcing the establishment of 28 new cyber-crime police stations across the state. These police stations have been set up in each district and police commissioner, marking a strategic move to bolster efforts in addressing cyber-related offences, as per directions of DGP Punjab, Gaurav Yadav.

He said the first SHO Navneet Kaur has been posted in this Cyber Crime Police Station along with another 8 employees.  One FIR of online trading fraud has been registered for a deposit of Rs.48,650 and demanding Rs.20,000 more.  An in-depth investigation will be conducted in this case and we will provide justice to the complainant.

Since this specialized police station has been opened, now anyone can make an online complaint also without any hesitation, we will try to get justice for the cybercrime victims at the earliest, said DIG.
