DC, SSP Ferozepur chair NCORD Meeting to encourage holistic approach to combat drug

Ferozepur, June 19, 2024: Today, Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Dhiman and SSP Soumiya Mishra jointly chaired the NCORD (Narco Coordination Centre) Meeting at the District Administrative Complex (DAC), to increase the interaction of all the departments at the district level in the on-going war against drug addiction and to encourage a holistic approach to the combat drug menace
Heading the District Level Coordination Committee, which was attended by all security agencies, and departments of education, health, and excise, Rajesh Dhiman, DC-cum-Chairman reviewed the efforts being made by all the departments for taking prevention measures to stop the spread of drugs. He emphasised that all concerned should create concerted efforts for creating greater deterrence to combat the dangerous trade of non-negotiable drug trafficking
DC and SSP issued suitable guidelines to the representatives of the concerned departments. They instructed them to work together to eradicate drug addiction and trained them to ensure the maximum participation of the general public and gain their trust. They also directed all the departments to collect information about the criminals involved in the drug business and share it with the concerned departments through their resources and also to the relevant authorities to take immediate action against the criminals and take necessary steps for the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
The present officials were also asked to make serious efforts to connect the youth, especially the literate students, with sports at the level of their respective departments and provide the necessary sports materials to them like sports kits, volleyball, football etc.
After the previous meeting by District Police Ferozepur and Counter Intelligence Ferozepur (May 1 to June 18, 2024), huge quantities of drugs have been seized and the accused have been arrested in various cases. As many as 34 persons were arrested in 25 cases registered under NDPS Act during this period, besides recovery of 3.067 gm heroin, 44.340 gm Poppy husk and 650 intoxicant pills.
